The Dream Car - By P.C. Snider (Flash Fiction) (Full Story)

This is a story that actually came to me in a dream. Anyway hope you all like it. I am considering this story a Flash Fiction story since it is under 1,000 words.

The Dream Car By P.C. Snider

Paul had lost his car. On top of that he was late for work! He had reached out to his boss Adam Whitaker, and his coworkers Devin Talltree, and Rob Murphy for help. They all had walkie-talkies to communicate to each other—if the car had been found. Each of them was going around to different parts of the city looking for it.

Paul was so worked up, and worried about losing his car. Full on panic mode pretty much. He kept pacing his apartment back, and forth his heart racing.

He reaches out to Adam first, “Hey boss, any luck finding my car?”

“That’s a negative buddy, but I found a new pub to hang out sometime!” he laughed as he took a big gulp of rum and coke. Instead of actually looking for the car. Adam couldn’t believe the pub was open in the morning.

    Paul sighs.

He radios Rob next, “Hey Rob, any luck finding my car?”

“Negative buddy, walking the mall currently though! Sure is busy here. I looked in the parking lot for a bit though. No luck.”

Paul sighs. I’m never going to find my car... He thought.

Maybe Devin will have better luck. C’mon Devin!

He radios Devin. “Come in Devin, Come in Devin!”

    First was silence, and static.

Then Paul could have sworn he heard some strange kissing sounds. He heard a woman giggling in the background.

    “Devin, Devin!” Paul said.

“Oh sorry, Paul, no luck in finding your car. I did meet a girl named Anna! Man she’s awesome.”

“Hi Paul!” He heard her say.

Paul sighs, turns off the walkie-talkie, and sits in his apartment’s rocking chair, and starts to sob. He also wonders where Devin had met Anna, and still wonders where his car had gone.

“My car is gone! My car is gone!!!!” Paul said.

“Paul, Paul! Wake up Paul!” Adam was shaking him awake.

Paul groans as he wakes up, and looks around, he was at work the whole time! Apparently he had fallen asleep in the Cafeteria, and was having a bad dream.

He looked out the Cafeteria’s window to the right and his car was sitting in the parking lot the whole time.
